In this collection of clips, Tom Guerra is playing our Blockhead First Born 18 equipped with a ComboMojo Tres. The amp is running in tube rectifier mode through the pair of 8 ohm Celestion Blues in the combo cab wired in series. The entire collection was recorded using a dual mic arrangement, one for each speaker, with each mic close-coupled, off-axis, to the outside edge of the speaker.
The collection contains three sets of clips. Tom plays a McNaught Signature G6 "T" on the clean set, and our McNaught White Limba SC on the crunch and lead sets.
For each set of clips, we recorded with both the Tres off (unattenuated) and on (trans-tenuated), with no change in amp settings or recording level settings, so you could compare both the volume levels and tones of the unattenuated and trans-tenuated clips.
To make the tone comparisons easier for you, we've included in each set of clips an edited version of the trans-tenuated clip, with the clip volume level raised to match volume level of the unattenuated clip.
The attenuation is pretty darn transparent, no? Now you know why we call it trans-tenuation!
