Mounting our products

All CabMojo products mount in an identical fashion to the speaker cabinet that they will be used with. Similarly, all ComboMojo products mount in an identical fashion to the combo amps they will be used with. However, the mounting of CabMojo and ComboMojo products differ significantly, owing to the differences between combo amps and speaker cabs.

ComboMojo

These products mount to the back, bottom panel of the combo amp. Simply unscrew the swivel screw on the product by turning the large knurled metal knob until the space between the swivel end and the two end prongs is wide enough to accept the thickness of the amp back bottom panel. Then simply place the product over the top edge of the panel, with the lettering visible from the back of the amp, and the horizontal sections of the two end prongs flush to the top edge of the panel. Center the product in the middle of the panel width by sliding it along the top edge of the panel. Secure the product to the amp by turning the large knurled metal knob to tighten the swivel screw against the inside of the back panel, proceeding one full turn past the point where the swivel screw makes firm, flush contact with the back of the panel. Do not over tighten the swivel screw, as it’s not necessary for secure mounting, and doing so may bend the metal prongs.

You’ll have to unmount the product to wire it to your loads (see below), but it’s best to mount it once before you wire it to learn-out the mounting procedure without the encumbrance of attached wires.

CabMojo

These products mount to the back of your speaker cabinet, replacing the conventional speaker jack dish. They require a rectangular mounting hole that is 3-9/16 inches high (along the cabinet vertical dimension) and 3-1/8 inches wide (along the cabinet horizontal dimension). Typically, this hole is located in the horizontal center of the cab, between the top of they cab and its vertical center.

Most cabs make use of precisely this size rectangular hole for their speaker jack dishes. In this case, simply place the product into the hole, from the outside of the speaker cab back, with the lettering visible from the back of the cab and correctly oriented top to bottom. If the existing dish mounting screw holes align with the product mounting screw holes, simply run a 1/8" inch drill bit through each one to be sure they are properly sized for the #10 mounting screws that come with the product, and then secure the product to the cab using the screws provided, taking care not to overtighten the screws to the point of stripping a screw hole. If the existing dish mounting screw holes do not align with the product mounting screw holes, simply use the product as a template to drill a 1/8" inch hole for each of the four mounting screws, and then secure the product to the cab using the screws provided, again taking care not to overtighten the screws to the point of stripping a screw hole.

In the rare cases where the cab does not have the correct sized rectangular hole, a new hole will have to be created around the existing speaker jack mounting dish hole using a jigsaw. This is a very forgiving process, given the large “lip” that exists around the edge of the product mounting dish. This lip will fully cover the hole edges, hiding any and all “rough edges” (within reason!) created in the process. Should you still not be comfortable performing this operation on your own, feel free to contact us for advice and assistance. If you’d like a professional to perform this operation for you, we’ll be happy do it for a very reasonable charge, or steer you to one of the many boutique cab manufacturers who use our products so you can speak to them about getting the work done. In this case, there will be no need to ship your entire cab - you’ll just have to ship the back panel – so shipping costs will be relatively low.
